From the editor: Details are everything when it comes to putting on the perfect baby shower party. Check out these tips from Tracy Kunzler so you can prepare for this beautiful get together celebrating new life.
Invites and Set Up
Start off by making up cute BaByQ invitations noting date, time, address, the fun menu, and where the couple is registered for gifts. Let guests know to bring their swimsuits. If you don’t want to make up your own invitations, one option is to go to etsy.com and type “BabyQue” or “BabyQ” in the search bar.
Set the scene
Float a couple of rubber duckies and round white balloon “bath bubbles” in the pool. Oriental Trading has a large, 11” x 14” rubber duckie. You could even ask each guest or couple to bring a bath or pool toy as a gift for baby to add to the pool decor. (Be sure to mention it in the invitation.) Let the rubber duckie bath and pool theme lead your color scheme and use bright yellow and blue balloons, streamers and paper products throughout the party area. Make a CD of songs with the word baby in them to play during the party. You can download songs from iTunes. Here are some titles to get you started:
- Baby Baby – Amy Grant
- Ooh Baby, Baby – The Miracles or Linda Ronstadt
- Hey! Baby – Bruce Channel
- Baby, It’s You – JoJo
- Baby Love – Diana Ross & The Supremes
- Baby Come Back – Player
- Baby I Need Your Lovin’ – Four Tops
- Give It To Me Baby – Rick James
- Baby Hold On – Eddie Money
- Don’t Worry Baby – Beach Boys
